These guys are outside the King Kong restaurant in Lincoln, Nebraska next to the hotel we are in. I stayed just a few doors down in April with Sarah's kids and they loved the gorillas. There's a severe storm here. Not as severe as we expected but a ton of rain so we decided that it wasn't a good idea to be in a tent in an electrical storm. Didn't get to the strategic air and space museum today so going there tomorrow morning. Then on to a KOA in Madison Wisconsin.

Notice anything?? Tony met up with his long-lost twin in Lexington Nebraska. His old boss Dale was headed west while we were headed east.

At the worlds largest rail yard, North Platte, NE.

Our breakfast was just delivered to our room--fresh muffins. Fresh peaches. Fresh hard boiled eggs. Milk. Juice. Honey. Butter. Jelly. Yum!!

Not quite the Hollywood sign, but this is outside our room's back window. I thought it was just so quaint--reminds me of my childhood. The sign probably dates to my childhood. Last night we went for a walk after we got here and wandered through the area's cemetery. Many of the graves date back to the 1800's! Lots of baby and children graves. We enjoyed walking the back, deserted roads and lanes, listening to the cicadas and crickets. Then--we got serenaded by our own private cricket concert about 1:30am. We finally got up to go outside and find the very loud critter but instead found it in our room. We caught it and carried into the parking lot but an hour later we had another serenade in our room! This time it got smooshed before it was thrown out! Today we are headed to the Strategic Air and Space Muse in Ashland, NE. Used to be the strategic air command museum for those of us who
remember the Cold War. Tony is really excited about it.

ROAD TRIP!! First night on the road to Wisconsin. We were going to camp at the Cabela's campground but didn't know how late we would be so got a room at this great 50's style motel just up the road from cabelas in Sidney Nebraska. Had great reviews. Very small rooms, no pool, no continental breakfast. Just very clean rooms. A friendly host. AND a breakfast--boiled eggs from their own free-range chickens (I am buying a dozen to take with us tomorrow), fresh baked muffins (made and baked by the host), honey from their own bees, fresh jam and butter, and milk or juice. We wanted to get several hours east and then wind our way thru Nebraska and Iowa Thursday and Friday. Friday night camping in Madison then on to Green Bay to meet Seth and family. Fun times!!

Take kids. Add dirt. Then add water.
